Testimonials Forestry Scotland

Client:
Dunbar Community Woodlands
Project:
Forestry consultancy 2010
Description:
Harvesting and marketing supervision of the felling and thinning of 1200 tonnes of timber adjacent to the town of Dunbar.
Testimonial:
"Dunbar Community Woodland Group is responsible for managing Lochend Woods, an 18 hectare woodland in Dunbar. Ownership of the woodland came to the community in April 2007, and at that point DCWG applied for Forestry Commission (WIAT) funding to make the necessary improvements to this long neglected woodland. Funding was granted in 2008, including the services of a forestry consultant. Mark was duly selected and appointed to manage the programme of upgrades in Lochend Woods. This was an onerous undertaking for a committee of volunteers, and without Mark's input of expertise and knowledge the task would have been extremely difficult. The programme of thinning and felling in particular was very stressful for DCWG - many woodland users were 'in shock' that 40% of the trees were removed - but Mark's canny guidance and confident reassurance led us through, culminating in the happy outcome of a healthy woodland. The committee are frequently complimented on the success of the p roject, and they take great pride in it. Thanks Mark!"

"In 2005 YWS was awarded the 'National Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice, Utilities - Green Champion Woodland Management'. This gave the opportunity through media attention to communicate with our customers the environmental standards to which the company works."
